Guerrero makes one more move

Fight, Fight, BSU has found out this morning that Alex Guerrero will be doing color commentary this fall for Boise State football games. What?! No Jadon Dailey?

The reality is that Jadon will still be doing color commentary for KIDO's game broadcasts with Bob Behler—Alex will be doing color commentary for KWEI's Spanish language game broadcasts. Congrats to Alex for this new opportunity...you'd better believe that if I spoke Spanish, I'd been listening in.

Excellent...ex-Bronco tabbed as Peak color-man

Via OBNUG, KTVB, and Idaho Radio News—we have learned that Peak Broadcasting has hired former Bronco center and star of Out of the Blue Jadon Dailey as their broadcast color commentator. Dailey will provide insight and humor while Bob Behler gives the play-by-play. If anyone hasn't watched Out of the Blue...you will be pleasantly surprised by Dailey's on-air persona. He is well-spoken, engaging and pretty darn funny. At the Out of the Blue premier...we were told that even the ESPN honchos were enamored with Dailey...who will be doing his first on-air gig with Boise State. Dailey has been working at a radio station in Phoenix doing sales since graduating from Boise State. We're told that Dailey will also be doing some sales work at KIDO.

Those who are worried about this being Dailey's first on-air work...take heart—the color man is there to provide insight and observations that the average listener may not accustomed to. In short—do you think that he'll be any worse than Jeff Caves? Dailey's rise to starting center after basically quitting football and working as a bank teller in Arizona have been well chronicled...we find his story quite unique and are looking forward to hearing him dish some great one-liners while Behler calls the action.

Reason for the delay?

Peak Broadcasting last week assured restless Bronco fans that they were nearing the end of their search for the next Boise State play-by-play announcer. Peak was to interview the 4 finalists and reach their decision on Friday...but Friday came and went and we still have no news of the heir to Paul J's throne. Well, after a little hand-wringing and a bit of digging, I may have found the reason for the delay—it appears that Peak's (and BSU's) top-choice got poached right out from under their noses by ACC also-ran Virginia. Vermont play-by-play man Dave Koehn will be taking the reins as the Voice of the Cavaliers it was announced today...BUT

Apparently, Koehn was in high demand and was the top candidate for the vacant position handling football at Boise State before the offer arrived from UVa. He was one of 10 finalists from a pool of 120 applicants.
Peak has been quiet as little mice since last Friday's deadline passed—could be that they are regrouping as their first choice was nabbed by Al Groh's minions.

Whoever we get now...rest assured they'll be second choice. You know what they say, "second is the first loser".

Now more people than ever before will be able to not hear Paul J Schneider

Peak broadcasting announced today that they will be forming the Bronco Sports Network—broadcasting Bronco football and basketball games on 8 different northwest radio AM and FM stations. What stations, you ask?

  • KIDO 580 AM Boise
  • KSNQ 98.3 FM Twin Falls
  • KWIK 1240 AM Pocatello
  • KID 590 AM Idaho Falls
  • KYZK 107.5 Sun Valley
  • KMXM 101.1 FM McCall
  • KSRV 1380 AM Ontario, OR
  • KALE 960 AM Tri-Cities, WA
Peak may add more stations in the future...and hopefully this is the case since the coverage map isn't terribly impressive despite the number of carriers. And check this out, hombre...
Peak Broadcasting also told Boise State in its initial proposal that it intended to broadcast the games in Spanish on KWEI in the Boise area.
Muy Bueno.

Paul J gets his "gold watch"

After 35 years as the voice of the Broncos, Paul J was rewarded today for his service after getting the axe last month in a controversial switcheroo by Boise State University.

Paul J will be honored at half-time of the home opener as well as given lifetime family seats in the soon-to-be-opened pressbox which will also bear his name. In addition, Paul J's name will be affixed to a hefty football or basketball scholarship endowment and he will become eligible for Boise State's Hall of Fame with the next class.

Paul J's mustache may also be dipped in bronze and donated to the Smithsonian.
